Collection: Stoneware Bowls
In my personal collection, my favorite bowl is a medium-sized ironstone one from the 19th century that I love for soup, oatmeal and even just for holding ingredients while cooking. The size is so versatile but the elegant foot is what makes this bowl feel like a piece of art in the kitchen, I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
Inspired by this old gem, I worked at making bowls in the barn in Rhode Island that captured the silhouette, size and weight distribution of my antique example.
These stoneware bowls were then glazed and fired by Guy Wolff in Connecticut in his outdoor kiln, with a celadon glaze made from ingredients that are no longer commercially available. I'm so happy with how these turned out, and the fact that they survived being carted around the east coast for both bisque and glaze firings, as I don't have a kiln in the barn in RI.
