Study of a portrait by Klimt (small)

This watercolor study is a copy of a recently discovered portrait of Prince William Nii Nortey Dowuona by Gustav Klimt, painted in 1897. I've always loved Klimt's work, making a pilgrimage to Vienna two summers ago to see the many portraits and murals he painted there. My jaw dropped when I first saw this portrait of an African Prince, and it is now my favorite work by Klimt. 

This study was my first of two attempts of this subject. This piece is the smaller version which was a sort of quick color test, painted faster and more loosely than my second attempt.
