This small bowl I threw is unpainted. It was placed in a very cool spot of the kiln so the glaze didn't flow fully, resulting in uneven spread and a matte finish. It is signed and dated but this is covered with glaze.
I makes these high-fired porcelain pieces once a year, in the fall, with my pottery mentor Guy Wolff. I threw this small bowl on the wheel, off the hump. Then Guy dipped it into celadon glaze and fired it to cone 10 in his outdoor propane-fuelled kiln.
I consider these pieces to be some of the finest wares I've made in my twenty plus years of producing pottery.
