Deep, medium-sized rice bowl with satin glaze, crazed. Of all the bowls offered for sale, this one is the best. I will be totally fine if it doesn't sell as I was on the fence about keeping it in my own personal collection ;-) I painted the outside with an outdoor scene and the inside has a sweet little mischievous crab at center. The base where the glaze pools is in perfect condition, a spot I'm always critical with when inspecting the wares after firing. Signed RS 2025. Bowl slightly warped from the heat of the kiln. One of the nicest bowls I've ever made.
I makes these high-fired porcelain pieces once a year, in the fall, with my pottery mentor Guy Wolff. I threw this small bowl on the wheel, off the hump. Then Guy dipped it into celadon glaze and fired it to cone 10 in his outdoor propane-fuelled kiln.
I consider these pieces to be some of the finest wares I've made in my twenty plus years of producing pottery.
