Small shallow bowl with satin glaze, crazed, rim slightly warped from heat in firing. Painted scene on exterior with crab inside at center. Signed and dated but obscured by glaze (slightly visible in the light, RS 2025).
I makes these high-fired porcelain pieces once a year, in the fall, with my pottery mentor Guy Wolff. I threw this small bowl on the wheel, off the hump. Then Guy dipped it into celadon glaze and fired it to cone 10 in his outdoor propane-fuelled kiln.
I consider these pieces to be some of the finest wares I've made in my twenty plus years of producing pottery.
