Study of a portrait by Klimt

This watercolor study is a copy of a recently discovered portrait of Prince William Nii Nortey Dowuona by Gustav Klimt, painted in 1897. I've always loved Klimt's work, making a pilgrimage to Vienna two summers ago to see the many portraits and murals he painted there. My jaw dropped when I first saw this portrait of an African Prince, and it is now my favorite work by Klimt. 

My watercolor (after Klimt's original in oil) was the second study I did of this subject. My first attempt was smaller and I made mental notes of what I wanted to work on and change in this second attempt.
