From Guy: "The English Full pot is the most important flowerpot in the history of gardening. In the 2 pound size it was as popular in the early 1800's as the Beatles were in the 1960's for holding the yellow auriculas or primrose. Millions of this pot were made in the 1820's alone. The full pot is the most sought after flowerpot in the history of gardening."
Of all the pots that Guy makes, this is my favorite, as there's no place to 'hide' any flaws of the subtle line in this pot's silhouette. This is one of the biggest challenges for me, making these pots as beautifully as Guy's, so I keep trying! These are made with 6 lbs of wet clay. 6lbs is currently that largest amount of clay that I feel comfortable throwing, and it's still difficult at times. With this batch of 6lb red full pots, I kept only about half of what I threw, scrapping and re-throwing the pots that I felt weren't great. Guy was really happy with the ones that I kept for firing and for me, having the 'master's' approval is truly the greatest compliment with this endeavor.
