Cloud/Field Study

Sometimes I don't have my paints with me when I really want to study what I'm looking at, so I make mental notes in my head while fighting the temptation to take photos. Later, I sit down and attempt to paint what I saw, using the overall notes with as much as I can remember. This is one of those attempts, a scene that was stunning from the window of my train ride from New York to Rhode Island on an early summer morning.
