This bowl is in the top three of the best pieces out of the bowls offered for sale here. I threw this in porcelain, going for the shape and size of a tea bowl, then painted the outside with a scene in cobalt. Glazed in celadon. Signature and date are clear and unobscured, RS 2025. The foot is perfectly clean.
I makes these high-fired porcelain pieces once a year, in the fall, with my pottery mentor Guy Wolff. I threw this small bowl on the wheel, off the hump. Then Guy dipped it into celadon glaze and fired it to cone 10 in his outdoor propane-fuelled kiln.
I consider these pieces to be some of the finest wares I've made in my twenty plus years of producing pottery.
