Another one of the nicest pieces from this firing, a small bowl I threw on the wheel then painted with cobalt, glazed with celadon. This bowl turned out beautifully, I was so happy to see this fired. The small crab on the inside was something I saw in an antique bowl and wanted to reproduce myself.
I makes these high-fired porcelain pieces once a year, in the fall, with my pottery mentor Guy Wolff. I threw this small bowl on the wheel, off the hump. Then Guy dipped it into celadon glaze and fired it to cone 10 in his outdoor propane-fuelled kiln.
I consider these pieces to be some of the finest wares I've made in my twenty plus years of producing pottery.
